Emphasis is placed on electronic messages, project development and employment portfolios.
Three credits.

Student outcomes:
  • ·     Ability to create writing tactics for any business related writing issue
  • ·     Understand the boundaries and limitations of professional workplace communication
  • ·     Identify intercultural issues
  • ·     Develop the beginnings of a professional portfolio

Plagiarism, Grades and Points

PLEASE DO NOT PLAGIARIZE!

I would rather your work through your writing issues with me rather than force me to fail you for plagiarism.

Each assignment is worth 10 points and there are 12 assignments.
Everyone in this class has 120 points right now; the points are yours to lose.
Each assignment will be graded by the following criteria assuming that everyone starts at 10.

-1 point for every spelling error
-1 point for every grammar or style error
-2 points for not following directions
-1 point for every unprofessional communication

Directions and deadlines are very important in the business world; ignore them at your peril.

But I swear that this class will be fun . . .

I believe that your ability to write well and express yourself is the most powerful tool in your professional arsenal. My job is to help you tap into your inner communicator so that you become more comfortable with the process. I need you to tell me what your writing issues are so that I can help you solve them.
There will be several dates over the next six weeks where I will talk with you one-on-one to talk about your writing specifically. I'm here to help.
We can meet:
Via Google Hangout or Video
Via the phone
or if you want to meet in person we can make time to meet in my office this summer.
